What Your Plan Includes
Which features depend on your plan, which limits apply, and why something you have read about may not appear in your admin.
Not everything described in this documentation is available on every plan, and not every payment processor is available to every shop. If a page describes something you cannot find, this is usually why.
A feature you do not have is hidden, not broken
The admin only shows what your shop can use. A missing menu item is almost never a fault. Check here first, then Billing and Plan to see what you are on.
What Every Plan Includes
Products, orders, customers, coupons, digital products, gift certificates, gift card purchasing, store credit, the blog, SEO tools, wishlists, gift registries, reviews, product questions, recently viewed, multiple currencies, a custom domain, email notifications and the basic reports.
That is a complete shop. Everything in the Products, Selling, Customers, Money, Shipping, Tax and Your Storefront sections of this documentation works on any plan.
What Needs a Higher Plan
| Feature | Where it appears |
|---|---|
| Advanced reports | Reports, beyond the basic sales figures |
| Abandoned cart recovery | Marketing |
| Subscriptions | Selling, and subscription products |
| API access | Settings, API Tokens |
| Webhooks | Settings, Webhooks |
| Vendor system | Vendor Management |
| Vendor marketplace | Vendor Management |
| Product comparison | Storefront |
| White label | Storefront branding |
| Priority support | Support response times |
If one of these is what you need, Billing and Plan shows what changing would cost and takes effect immediately rather than at the end of a cycle.
Limits, Not Just Features
Plans also carry limits, which behave differently from features: you keep working until you reach one.
| Limit | Starter | Pro | Growth and Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|
| Products | 100 | 10,000 | Unlimited |
| Orders per month | 500 | 50,000 | Unlimited |
| Staff accounts | 5 | 15 | Unlimited |
| Storage | 1 GB | 10 GB | Unlimited or 50 GB |
Storage is the limit people meet first
Product photographs are the bulk of it. A shop with a few hundred products and several large images each will reach a gigabyte long before it reaches a hundred products, and the symptom is an upload that refuses rather than a warning in advance.
Payment Processors Are Not All Available Everywhere
Which processors you can use depends on three things, and only the first is up to the platform.
Your plan, which decides whether a processor is offered at all.
Your country. Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net, Square and Braintree each operate in a different list of countries, and each supports a different set of currencies within them. A processor may be visible in your admin and still refuse to complete onboarding because of where your business is registered.
The processor's own decision. Every one of them underwrites merchants individually. They can decline an application, or accept it and later restrict the account, based on what you sell and your volumes. That is between you and them, and the shop is only ever told the outcome.
Connected is not the same as approved for everything
A processor can be connected and taking cards while still declining particular methods. Buy Now Pay Later, wallets and bank debits are each enabled separately at the processor's end, and some require a separate application.
So the practical advice is to connect what you intend to use early, before you need it, rather than assuming a method will be available on the day you launch.
The Transaction Fee
Some plans take a small percentage of each sale on top of the monthly price. Starter and Growth do; Pro and Enterprise do not. Your own figure is shown on Billing and Plan, along with anything currently outstanding.
It applies to card sales only. A cheque, a purchase order, a bank transfer, a payment on account or cash over the counter carries no platform fee, on any plan. We are not providing a payment service on those, so there is nothing to take a percentage of.
When it is taken depends on how you take cards.
On Stripe and PayPal, where we are part of the payment flow, the fee comes out at the moment of the sale. The processor splits the payment, and you see it in your processor's own records rather than on an invoice from us.
On Authorize.net, Square and Braintree the money settles straight into your own account and never passes through us. Those fees are recorded against each order and added to your next subscription invoice, so they arrive as a single line rather than dozens of small deductions. Billing and Plan shows the running total and the orders making it up, so the figure on the invoice is never a surprise.
Refunds reduce it. Refund half an order and half the fee goes with it. Refund all of it and the fee disappears.
This is separate from, and on top of, what your payment processor charges you for handling the card. That part is between you and them, and is not something we set or receive.
Features You Can Switch Off Yourself
Separately from your plan, Settings, Store Features lets you turn off things you do have: reviews, wishlists, questions, comparison, gift cards and others.
A feature switched off here is also hidden from the admin, which is worth remembering when something is missing and your plan says you should have it. Check the feature switches before concluding it is the plan.
Where to Look When Something Is Missing
In this order.
Settings, Store Features, in case it is switched off.
Billing and Plan, in case it is not on your plan.
The processor's own dashboard, for anything to do with payments, since a restriction there will not show up here.
